Time for New Car - Week of April 7, 2008

Well the decision to stay at Cowtown and test paid off Saturday night. Kathryne and 40 something other ASCS Sooner region competitors rolled into the high banked Cowtown speedway. KATHRYNE WON THE SIXTH HEAT RACE, but when there are that many cars and that much competition things aren’t always as great as they seem. Kathryne won the heat race but still fell short of the top eight in passing points to redraw for the front line up…. How is that possible?

Kathryne started the feature from the tenth spot and quickly moved up to sixed in only two laps. I was personally thinking we really had something here and then the thing all of us racer worry about occurred. Kathryne made contact with another car and had a head on full speed collision with a safety barrier. I will tell you that when I arrived at the car and saw Kathryne hanging from the belts I feared the worse, but after several minutes she came to and got her wits about herself and crawled out of the car under her own power.

Her new chassis looks to be scrap as well as the front end and numerous other parts but Kathryne is fine and ready to go to Oklahoma City and Tulsa this weekend. We have a long week ahead of us as we will prepare the back up car for service and head into the majority of the schedule with out a backup. Hopefully we can get one of her older chassis repaired and put together before we need one. Thank you to all the well wishers and we really appreciate what each and every one of you do to help her fulfill her dreams.

Fast Kat News Flash Week of March 3oth

It has been an incredible week with us at KMR. Kathryne was inducted into the National Honor Society on Friday night and all of us at KMR could not be happier or any more proud of her. Most of us feel extremely blessed to be a part of a team that has such an amazing driver but the added benefits of a leader that excels scholastically and participates so freely with in the community keeps us all motivated to be a better team as well as be better people ourselves.

With the threat of storms and a possible wash out we chose to take advantage of the opportunity to prep test for next weeks ASCS Sooner race at Cowtown Speedway instead of making the trip to LA for the Gulf South event.

The team arrived early and took some publicity shots of Kathryne in her new 2008 fire suit that was provide by ROYAL PURPLE. The suit was manufacture by Simpson and I must say they did an incredible job at making it look like it was painted on. Thank you Tina and Team Simpson for the early delivery and Royal Purple for the suit.

The night saw Kathryne starting 4th in our heat race with the 7m on the pole Kathryne moved up quickly to third and was hanging on the tail tank of the second place car lap after lap. With the track locked down I didn’t think she had a chance, at the checker flag they were side by side but she comes up a nose wing short. Kathryne started from the fourth row in the feature and what a feature it would be. 22 cars filled the rocket fast speedway with more passing than I have ever seen in a sprint car race at Cowtown. I am not sure how many cars we passed and went back and forth with but I do know it was a bunch. As the checkered flag was waiving I thought we were I 5th but we wound up 6th. I must say it was an exciting race and Kathryne did a heck of a job in lap traffic.

Fast Kat Goes to Florida for ASCS National Event

In the the rough and tumble world of winged sprint car racing, Fast Kathryne Minter is one of the few ladies to duke it out with the tough guys of the American Sprint Car Series ASCS. East Bay Raceway Park was the first stop on her 2008 season. Finishes included a 3rd in a heat and a 6th in the B Main. The Tracy Minter 360 traveled all the way from Bedford, Texas.

Fast Kat is a A 2006 graduate of the Lyn St. James Driver Development program, Kathryne has posted over 50 feature wins in 3 years or racing, ten top-10 season point finishes and won 5 of the 7 IMCA ice breaker series races in 2005 to win the series.

Next stop is Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Alabama.
